Ultramarine Blue for Detergents and Laundry
Ultramarine blue is merged with detergents to get the best whiteness and correct yellowing in textile fibers. The pigment can enhance the whiteness of textile fibers owing to that ultramarine blue absorbs yellow wavelengths and they are not reflected, which makes the fabric looks whiter.
Optical whiteners have the same whitening effects with very different mechanism, it absorbs invisible ultraviolet light and emits visible light, hence increasing the total reflectance of the white surface. But optical whiteners tend to degenerate optically when they are exposed to light and produce yellow shade by themselves.
Detergents and laundry are the most important applications of ultramarine blue, the product with reddish is more popular.
